Based on the value chain perspective, we construct the evaluation index system of the competitiveness of listed Chinese medicine enterprises and the comprehensive evaluation index system of the level of regional economic development, measure the degree of coupling and coordination of the competitiveness of listed Chinese medicine enterprises and the regional economy among provinces and cities using the coupling and coordination model. The study finds that the competitiveness level of listed Chinese medicine enterprises is overall better than the level of regional economic development, and there are significant regional differences in the degree of coupling and coordination between the two. As of the end of 2022, the whole is in the transition period between barely coordinated and primary coordinated; Shanghai, Jiangsu, Zhejiang and other provinces have a higher degree of coordination, while Jilin, Guizhou, Gansu and other regions have a lower degree of coordination. Therefore, it is suggested that each region should formulate strategies according to local conditions and promote the coordinated development of the competitiveness of listed Chinese medicine enterprises and regional economic development precisely; utilize the advantage of traditional Chinese medicine resources and transform them into economic benefits; and fully play the "head goose" effect of listed Chinese medicine enterprises to drive regional economic development.
