A Century-Long Exploration, Modern Value, and Fundamental Return of Traditional Chinese Medicine Education from the Perspective of Chinese Modernization

  • Over the past century, as the Communist Party of China (CPC) has explored the path to Chinese modernization, the education of Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM) has undergone five historical periods: germination, initial establishment, reform-development, leapfrog development, and high-quality development. An autonomous modern knowledge system for TCM has been established; the traditional master-apprentice model has been transformed into a modern institutional education model; the implementation of the Healthy China Strategy has been supported; the global outreach of TCM international education has been accelerated; and the sense of the Chinese national community has been strengthened. History demonstrates that the cultural program of the CPC is the theoretical basis for the modernization of TCM education. The CPC policies and regulations on TCM provide political guarantees for the modernization of TCM education. Upholding principles while innovating serves as the driving force and soul of TCM education modernization, and the modernization of TCM education represents a vivid practice of Chinese modernization.
