Literature Research on the Dunhuang Scrolls Medical Prescriptions for the Treatment of Heavy Metal Poisoning

    Abstract
  • Based on Luo Zhen-yu's bookmark and the letter exchanges between him and Wang Guo-wei, the origin of the Dunhuang scroll Medical prescriptions for the Treatment of Heavy Metal Poisoning has been basically confirmed to be from the Dunhuang cave 17 (the library cave). Through detailed contents comparing with those of some medical classics, such as Treatise on the Origins and Manifestations of Various Diseases, Arcane Essentials from the Imperial Library, Supplement to 'Important Formulas Worth a Thousand Gold Pieces' , as well as Formulary from the Heart of Medicine, it is proved that the similarity of medical contents is existed between the scroll and the above medical texts. At the same time, the word "Fu ju" used in the remaining scrolls is examined. The study summarizes and highlights the therapeutic use of stones in this scroll, and presents the reference significance for modern medical practice, health preservation, and body building.
